Healing Family Trauma

My sisters and I surprised my Mom and Kevin with a family reunion in Mt. Hood this week and I am still reeling from it! Dori! Four dogs! Three sistas! And Mom and Kevin! We chased waterfalls. Laughed. Ate all the food. Drank all (well, some) of the wine. Held space. Loved. Accepted. Transformed. Healed. It’s been a long time since we have all been together. And I don’t think we have ever all been together in such tight headquarters. Haha. As beautiful as it was, I know we were called together to work. And part of the work is to BE. Be with each other. For the recalibration. There is a lot of inter-generational trauma. Each generation doing better than the last, but there is always work to be done. And the work to be done this time was being. Loving. Observing. Loving. Laughing. Loving. Grounding. Accepting. Loving. “Her nervous system had been through so much. She decided to spend the rest of her life calming the inflammation. Thoughts, feelings, memories,...

How Does Self Care Show Up For You?

Self care. Sometimes it’s setting personal boundaries. Sometimes it’s taking a bath. Sometimes it’s a cup of your favorite tea in your favorite mug. Sometimes it’s a deep breath. Sometimes it’s a glass of wine and sometimes it’s NOT having a glass of wine. Lately self care for me has been time out in nature. Communing with the bald eagles, whales and wildlife. Exploring new places. Today it was a simple time out in my car with my favorite coffee drink from Starbucks. Simple. Nourishing. And non-negotiable. Self care is not a luxury. Self care can be the gateway to self love. Self love is the foundation for healing. Self care needs vary, so it’s important to have those moments of awareness and ask yourself, what do I really need right now? What will nourish my mind, body and soul? Will this replenish or deplete me? Will this empower or diminish me? Will this relax me or cause me anxiety? How does self care show up for you? 💚🌈🌎🌊🦋🦅
Love,
Aurora

We Love "How To Do The Work" by Dr. Nicole La Pera

We LOVE the book, HOW TO DO THE WORK! Have you read it? It’s on our elective reading list for our yoga teacher training program! Celeste and I both come from backgrounds in trauma. Our training program naturally morphed into a “trauma sensitive and informed” program. This means that we are trauma sensitive and aware of the needs of our students that have a history and/or experience with trauma in their lives. Most of us do, to some degree. Because of this, our training creates a sacred space around trauma. We believe this empowers our trainees as self healers even more, empowering them as yoga teachers and as their own guru. Even if teaching yoga isn’t for you, this deep dive journey into your Self may be!! “Healing is a daily event. You can’t ‘go somewhere’ to be healed; you must go inward to be healed. This means daily a commitment to doing the work. You are responsible for your healing and will be an active participant in that...

Fall 200 Hour Online Yoga Teacher Training Dates Announced

We are very excited to announce our Fall 200 Hour Online Yoga Teacher Training program begins in September 2021. Our first virtual yoga teacher training program has been such a success, that we are adding a second session to our 2021 roster! Both of our lead instructors are certified trauma aware yoga instructors and are passionate about creating yoga teacher training programs that not only prepare you for teaching yoga, but take you on a deep soul dive journey that is life changing! Our RYS, registered yoga school, has been Yoga Alliance approved since 2001.

TYC Yoga Teacher Training Institute has been approved by the Yoga Alliance to teach completely online and virtually for all of this year. We are hoping this extends indefinitely, as we have had great success with this new format and platform.  This is what one of our current students had to say:

"Wanted to take a moment to thank you and Celeste and Cheryl for such great classes. I have learned so much already that...

Welcome to TYC Wellness

Welcome to our virtual wellness studio! We are so glad you found us. We wanted to tell you a little backstory on how we got here!  In 2017, Aurora, our Founder, became the Steward of, The Yoga Channel, a cozy little brick and mortar yoga studio, founded in 2001, by Maribeth Hammond. TYC Wellness is the virtual spinoff of The Yoga Channel.

That very first year, the Thomas Fire hit the local area, as did multiple natural disaster fires during the years following.  In March 2020, the pandemic hit, and The Yoga Channel's doors were ordered closed for 3 weeks. Today, April 30th, 2021, they are still not open.

Within 48 hours of The Yoga Channel's brick and mortar business ordered shut down, Aurora had livestream yoga classes up and running on Zoom.  The studio didn't skip a beat. However, multiple streams of income were lost and the livestream classes, just barely covered the studio's monthly bills, outside of any owner draws. That's a whole other story. :)
