Meet Our Mentors

Aurora Heinemann

Certified Life Coach with ICA, Founder of TYC Yoga Teacher Training Institute & Wellness, Former Owner of The Yoga Channel, Certified Pet Loss & Grief Counselor, Grief Coach, Grief Movement Specialist,ERYT200, YACEP, Reiki Master, Intuitive, Mystic & Animal Communicator

Aurora found yoga at a time in her life, when her Complex Trauma, found her in talk therapy three times a week, basically unable to function at daily life. She did not start yoga to heal the pain, but it miraculously did just that, healed the pain. The more she practiced yoga, the less she needed the talk therapy.  There was trauma embedded in her body, that the talk therapy could not access.  At the time, Aurora did not have language around "trauma informed and trauma sensitive," as she did not seek yoga to specifically heal her trauma. But it did. And it felt like a miracle to her. No longer did the emotional pain and trauma control her. She was in a place of empowerment and felt she had to share this miracle with the world. She began the transformational deep dive journey of yoga teacher training and eventually became the owner of the little yoga studio, The Yoga Channel, where it all began.

Aurora is the Founder of TYC Wellness & Teacher Training Institute. She and Celeste have combined their experience and wisdom in their 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program, a transformational personal deep dive and preparation program for teaching yoga to others. The curriculum they have developed together meets The Yoga Alliance Standards and is also trauma sensitive to their students that enroll.  They have also developed a 12 week group coaching program for parents and future parents, Trauma Aware Parenting, and Holding Hands Through Holiday Grief, for those experiencing pain, loss and grief.

Aurora is also passionate about her pets, as they have been an integral part of her ability to cope with the trauma. Since she began practicing yoga, she has experienced four tragic deaths of her personal pets, all dying young. Lola at 5 1/2 because of a brain tumor, Rocco at 7 because of a sudden rupture of an unknown tumor on his spleen, Sofie at 7 because of liver cancer, and Thorneberry, at 9 because of an autoimmune disorder. These deaths all occurred within a decade. And most were sudden.  All were traumatic. The grieving process has been beautifully painful and transformational. Our animal friends are our teachers and this is so clear in their death and our grief. Aurora embraced the pain, dove in deep, and received the lessons. She believes grief and the grieving process to be an honor. She received her certification as a Pet Loss & Grief Counselor and as a Grief Movement Specialist to honor the journey. She is passionate that our love, pain and grief, for our animal friends, be witnessed. She and Celeste will be releasing dates soon for their, Mindfully Moving Through Pet Loss program, and Aurora is in the final stages of planning her Pet Loss Partnership program for those that need someone alongside them when their best friend transitions on.

Aurora has been a certified life coach and yoga teacher for nearly a decade, and has her ERYT 200 and YACEP certifications. She has received her 50 hour Gentle Yoga certification with Soul of Yoga, 40 hour Advanced Sequencing certification with Travis Eliot and Lauren Eckstrom, 50 hour Anatomy for Healers with Tara Matthews and 20 hour Teaching Trauma Sensitive Yoga Certification with Treating Trauma with Yoga. Currently she is close to completing her 300 hour advanced certification with Soul of Yoga. She is also a Reiki Master, intuitive and mystic.

Meet Our Yoga Teacher Training Anatomy Mentors

Leslie Kaminoff & Amy Matthews

For the anatomy component of your yoga teacher training, we're partnering with world-renowned Yoga Educators & best-selling authors of Yoga Anatomy, Leslie Kaminoff & Amy Matthews.

Using what they've learned in their combined 50-years of experience training yoga teachers, they've created a unique online + in-person course that's exclusively available through Teacher Training programs: YogaAnatomy.net Fundamentals.

This is not your average anatomy training. Don't expect hours of "which bone is which" that make you feel like you're back in high school science classes...

Leslie & Amy spend time on the things that matter most to a yoga teacher and skip the memorization.

They'll help you establish a broad base of knowledge by sharing examples, analogies, stories, and guiding you through physical experiments that make the material helpful and applicable to teaching yoga to students.

Leslie & Amy will also share their own favorite teaching strategies like...

 * How to make poses accessible for any student

* What to do when students have an injury and still want to practice

* Simple cues that help every student find success on the mat

Leslie and Amy's unique blend of humor and expertise make them the absolute best team to guide you through this phase of your journey.

 HOW DOES IT WORK?

You'll join Amy & Leslie at home via your computer for 20-hours of guided lesson content, reflection, personal exploration, and teaching preparation.

They'll lead you through movement experiments that will help you apply anatomy ideas to your own practice, and give you tools you'll be able to access as a teacher. You'll have time to soak up the material and try it out it in your own asana practice.

This means that each time we come together as a group, you'll already have a strong foundation in that unit's content and we'll be able to dive even deeper into the material, rather than spend valuable group time on basic concepts and memorization.

Our group time will be spent in hands-on application. We'll break into discussion groups, share movement exercises, and observe exactly how this information interweaves with our tradition.

By the time we're finished, you'll have a broad understanding of the anatomical concepts that are most important to a yoga teacher so you can begin teaching with confidence.

"Thank you so much! I needed our yoga space that you facilitated - it was the gateway to all this healing. I’m so grateful for the sacred space you carefully crafted and tended. It was everything I didn’t know I needed. And I’m so grateful for it and you"

"Wanted to take a moment to thank Aurora and Celeste for such great classes. I have learned so much already that I’m brimming with enthusiasm. I thought it might be difficult spending so much concentrated time on Zoom, but it wasn’t at all. The three of you have given me much to think about. I had had an epiphany about teaching, too. It involved making the class for students- not the teacher. I’m also relieved to know that I do NOT need to do headstands! They hurt! I could go on and on here, I won’t. ‘Just wanted you to know how excited I am and how much I’m looking forward to more classes. Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
